Navideh Noori is just one of a growing number of Iranian students here at Auburn University. She wanted to study in the United States and decided that Auburn was the best destination for a person in the field of forestry and wildlife sciences to excel. Although it can be hard being away from family and friends back home, Noori found a large support group in Auburn.
She first arrived in Auburn just days before the university won the 2011 college football national championship. Just like other Auburn students, she celebrated in the traditional gathering spot by Toomer’s Corner. Since coming to Auburn, she has also taken part in recreational events for international students sponsored by the Graduate School, enhancing her experience in the U.S. “People are really supportive, Noori says. “They care about you.”
