Community Planning

The Mission of the Master of Community Planning Program is to prepare students for leadership roles and meaningful, challenging careers in professional practice. The curriculum focuses on the planning of the built environment and harnesses the nationally recognized strengths of the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. Students use the surrounding region as a laboratory to engage contemporary issues of urbanization and, through hands-on learning experiences and processes of synthesis, acquire the knowledge necessary to understand the technical and dynamic nature of the built environment, as well as the skills required to prepare them for the vital role that they as planners will play in the positive growth of resilient communities. The program seeks outstanding students of diverse backgrounds who, as graduates, will be recognized by citizens, employers and the planning profession as innovative, dedicated and ethical professionals.
